Unstructured Data: The unknown risk

Recording of a webinar describing a case study for remediating the risk of unstrucutred data: https://links.securiti.ai/discussing-unstructured-data-with-surf-live-saving/

Description of the webinar

Over the past few years, data has exploded. To put things into perspective, it is projected that by 2025, data will grow to over 180 zettabytes globally. Data is a valuable resource that businesses are harnessing to drive critical decisions and product experiences. However, the majority of this data is unstructured.

The growing volume of unstructured data and the resulting data silos further create security and privacy risks that may lead to cyber threats and data breaches. As organisations can’t adequately protect the data unless they know its location, type and sensitivity.

There are several recent examples of data breaches that could have been either prevented or their impact substantially reduced if the organization had a good understanding of the data they held. An example is Lattitude Financial which breached 14M identity documents of Australian and New Zealanders, but only had 3M customers.

The webinar will cover how to reduce your risk associated with unstructured data including the challenges around unstructured data, how to identify sensitive data being held, remediation approaches and global industry insights.

Matthew Ingersole, CIO, Surf Life Saving NSW will provide a customer's perspective on this challenge and how Surf Life Saving NSW has tackled this challenge

Matthew will be joined by:

  • David Roberts – Managing Director, Trustworks360

  • Chong Shao – Principal Consultant, IIS Partners

  • Bruce Nixon, Head of Partnerships, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Securiti
